When Zhu Bajie was Marshal Tianpeng in heaven, he secretly loved Chang'e. However, a palace maid named Zizhu'er secretly loved him, but he did not notice her.
Later, Tianpeng was reported by Wang Lingguan for flirting with Chang'e and was eventually banished to the mortal world. Zizhu'er also reincarnated in the mortal world, hoping to meet Tianpeng.
As a result, Tianpeng mistakenly reincarnated as a pig and became Zhu Bajie. During one of Zizhu'er's reincarnations, she met Zhu Bajie. Although Zhu Bajie recognized her, she was frightened away by his appearance.
Later, Zizhu'er reincarnated as the youngest of the seven spider spirits and changed her name to "Zizhuer."
During the journey to retrieve the scriptures, the four disciples passed by the Pansi Cave. The original text describes Zhu Bajie seeing the spider spirits bathing and intending to take advantage of them. However, there is a modification here: Zizhuer and Zhu Bajie recognized each other, and they had feelings for each other. Reunited after a long time, they experienced a moment of deep harmony in the water.
But ultimately, due to their conflicting positions, they had to fight each other.
Pansi Cave was next to Huanghua Temple. When the spider spirits were in trouble, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord from Huanghua Temple intervened.
Sun Wukong found the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord difficult to deal with, so he sought the help of Pilanpo Bodhisattva. Pilanpo Bodhisattva is the mother of the The Star Lord (whose original form is a rooster) and used the The Star Lord's treasure, an embroidery needle, to subdue the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord, as roosters eat centipedes. Therefore, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord was very afraid and even held a grudge against the The Star Lord.
In the end, after being subdued, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord was assigned to guard the gate for Pilanpo Bodhisattva.
Before killing the seven spider spirits, Sun Wukong noticed that Zhu Bajie had some emotional issues here, so he let Zhu Bajie "deal with" the spider spirits and left first.
Zhu Bajie killed the other six spider spirits but couldn't bring himself to harm Zizhuer(Purple Pearl).
Although Zizhuer didn't die, she was seriously injured. She barely survived by consuming the corpses of her six sisters. Later, Zizhuer discovered she was pregnant and gave birth to six daughters—most likely all fathered by Zhu Bajie.
After the journey to retrieve the scriptures, the prologue story takes place. The Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord was granted one of the Six Roots and returned to Huanghua Temple.
Upon regaining his freedom and returning to Huanghua Temple, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord found that Zizhuer was still alive, but she was weak due to old injuries and age. To strengthen his forces, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord recruited Zizhuer and used one of Sun Wukong's Six Roots to extend her life.
The Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord had a mission in the mortal world: to set a trap for the The Star Lord.
When the The Star Lord was captured, he recognized the golden hairpin in the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord's hand—he seemed to recognize its owner but was killed before he could say anything.
Ultimately, the The Star Lord was forced to ingest a demon egg, transforming completely into the demon "Huaiyue Demon Lord." His consciousness was utterly destroyed, leaving only his demonic nature. His original form, a rooster, turned into a long-haired chicken skeleton. He was then placed by the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord in Ziyun Mountain.
As for the The Star Lord's embroidery needle, it was taken by the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord and given to the spider spirits as a reward.
Five hundred years after the journey to retrieve the scriptures, Zizhuer still missed Zhu Bajie. The Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord exploited this, telling her: "If you marry Zhu Bajie and then eat him, your body will recover."
Zizhuer couldn't bear the thought of eating Zhu Bajie, but marrying him was her heart's desire, so she had her daughters make the arrangements.
You have grown in strength, but not in wisdom.
You've not only hurt Bajie and his darling but also laid waste to the seal of the high
ones. A grave misdeed!
Mortal or Immortal, all seek to break from the past and start a new.
Yet destiny, like a lover's tongue, speaks one way and means another.
Though you may savor it yourself, you can never tell if you truly want it or not.
